Childcare allowance: how much do I get back?
To get a good understanding of your childcare costs, it’s important to know the amount of your childcare allowance since that determines how much you will end up paying yourself.
How much you get back from the tax authorities depends on several factors: your income, the type of childcare and the number of children that go to daycare.
Did you know that on January 1, 2023 there was a change in the law. Every working parent, regardless of how many hours per week he or she works, is entitled to childcare allowance for a maximum of 230 hours per month, which is equivalent to almost 5 days of childcare (with VIPKids 5 days of childcare is 238 hours per month).
